well after living here a number of years already we have been seeing a lot of caterpillars this year, i don't know if they are more common or if we are just more attuned to their habitats, but a couple of weeks ago we caught a lime hawk moth caterpillar coming down a tree in victoria park and then in our own allotment, but not on our plot we found this big guy:
in all his glory, he was about three inches long and he had a friend just below him too: moth power!
