lettuce and a mild november

the allotment is in such a weird state right now, we have had a ridiculously mild november and everything is stuck in this strange holding pattern, it is too cold for there to be any real growth on most things, but it hasn't frosted yet ... right now we have two little lettuce experiments going, one in the cold frame:

that is obviously doing fairly well, and then lettuce in the mini-poly tunnel in the back of the house, and its been slow going for those seedlings ...

other things that are still in the ground with a fighting chance are our fennel (still going strong), rutabaga/swede, and escarole! in addition to all of our greens ...
