the class of 2014

i give you the class of 2014, the last day of a possible frost is upon us and after hardening our seedlings in the crazy winds that we've had over the last week we've decided to start planting things out,

like our cucumbers (left) and pumpkins (right), we've decided to try to do a mostly no-dig approach to the new plot and one way to do this easily is to fill it with sprawling squashes (zucchini and cuccuza to come), with only the bottom row being devoted to brussels sprouts ... now that's a plan!
although this may look like its really tidy, there is still hard work to get the whole plot up to speed, just above the new arrivals are our asparagus plants (surviving totally in spite of us) and below is a part that we still have to weed ... wow, exciting!
