i would like to present to you our first real harvest, a trio of turnips:

they're actually not the very first things that we have picked so far (we have a nice little lettuce patch and were able to overwinter spinach), but they are the first of the spring veggies, and they took just 8 weeks to mature, we were supposed to thin them, but had no idea that they would grow so fast (in comparison to the absolutely glacial celery root that we have been trying to grow), so next year they are definitely on our list to plant early and often.
recently we also planted some corn:
in this nice, neat patch next to our pea patch and raspberries:
note the tidy woodchipped paths!!!
and of course in our allotment we strive for haute couture, someone had some time to strike a pose by our flowering lupine.
